Kathryn and Robert Nance
How did you two meet? Robert and I met during our senior year of college at Ole Miss in 2017. Funny enough, I met Miley (his dog and our future flower dog) before I met Robert. One of my roommates was watching Miley and she actually ended up staying with me that night and got all the belly rubs and cuddles. A week later, we were hanging out at Robert’s house, which was always known as the “Warren Street house,” and I was reunited with Miley again. I was giving Miley all the pets and love when her owner Robert walked up to me and asked how I knew Miley. That resulted in us talking the rest of the night. Fast forward, six years later and Miley is still as smiley as ever and even helped us celebrate our marriage by walking down the aisle as one of our flower girls. So, it’s safe to say that Miley was our matchmaker.
Describe your wedding dress: Elegant strapless satin wedding ball gown with a draped heart-shaped cut with a very long train and custom bow in the back. The original dress was supposed to have off the shoulder straps, but I had my seamstress remove the straps as well as sew on the belt and make a larger and more prominent bow. I truly felt like a princess! My veil was cathedral length with 3D florals, with pearls in the center of each flower.
Favorite moment from your big day: It’s so hard to just choose one! But I would say as soon as we said our vows and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife was truly the best feeling in the world. We went back to our private room to have a private meal before we joined in on the reception fun. We both looked at each other and held up our rings and said “We did it!!!” Such a surreal feeling that we both will never forget.
Favorite wedding details: Disco, disco and more disco balls!! I have always been obsessed with disco, flowers and blues. The disco ball flower extravaganza above the dance floor truly blew me away. Oxford Floral did an amazing job! I also loved every detail that we incorporated Miley into – the napkins, the cups, the signature drink signage. We even had a cutout of Miley’s head for the photobooth that also ended up on the dance floor!
What you’re doing now: We’re living in Austin, Texas, settling into married life together. We are working, eating and hiking our way through Austin. You never know – we may end up back in Oxford sometime soon!
