Garrow and Connor McKay

How did you two meet? We met at the first wedding I did flowers for in my hometown, Union City, Tenn. I started my own flower business while in college, Garrow’s Garden. The wedding I did flowers for happened to be Connor’s distant cousin’s wedding. We met at the reception.

Tell us about the proposal: Connor proposed to me in Sea Island, Ga., at the Cloister under the oak trees. It was the most beautiful scenery. It was the same place he asked me to be his girlfriend.

Describe your wedding dress: My wedding had three different venues and I wanted each dress to echo the surroundings and feel of each one; therefore, I had three dresses. My ceremony dress was simple and understated to go along with the simplicity and elegance of the chapel. My reception dress had a petal applique from head to toe. This was perfect considering I had a flower feature that rained calla lilies from the ceiling to floor. The third dress was decked with beads that would flow with movement. It was the perfect party dress for the after-party and DJ.

Favorite wedding details: My favorite wedding detail had to be the raining calla lilies. I met with David from Oxford Floral several times for hours figuring out the structure and how we would accomplish the attraction. As a retired florist, I knew I wanted to do something different and something that made a statement without too much chaos. I think David executed my vision perfectly.

What you’re doing now: I am currently the principal designer at my firm, Garrow Interiors, based out of Nashville, Tenn. Connor is pursuing his career in professional golf. We stay busy, but we love to travel together in our free time.
