Kara and Ford Gordon

How did you two meet? Ford and I met through mutual friends in the seventh grade, and we were friends for a few years before we started dating in the fall of our sophomore year of high school.

Favorite moment from your big day: Ford and I both felt that our ceremony was really special, and we are thankful for that because we knew it was the most important part of the day. In the months before the wedding, we spent some time doing pre-marital counseling with Eddie Rester, our officiant, so we all had the opportunity to get to know each other well. Although we were standing before a chapel of 300 people, it felt as if it was just the three of us in the room at some moments.

Favorite wedding details: I really love a clean and classic wedding look, and with almost every design decision made, I tried to choose timeless over trendy. I hoped to be able to look back on my wedding photos decades from now and have no regrets. I did decide to push myself outside of the classic box a bit by incorporating a little color. For our July wedding, I envisioned pale blue mixed with whites, creams and lots of greenery.

What you’re doing now: Ford and I are both in our last semester of school at UMMC in Jackson. In May, I will graduate from dental school and he will graduate from medical school. We are looking forward to moving into the next phase of life together!
