Why do you think you were chosen as one of Oxford’s Top 20 Under 40?
I believe I was chosen because of my commitment to serving others, both in and out of the courtroom. I have built my career on hard work and clear communication, and my goal is to approach each client’s case as a problem to be solved rather than a fight to be won. That mindset has allowed me to effectively serve clients and build lasting relationships in the community.
Tell us about your work and what excites you most about it.
I have the privilege of helping people during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. Every case and client is different, and I enjoy working to find fair, practical solutions that make a real difference in someone’s life.
What’s an accomplishment you’re especially proud of?
I am most proud of hanging my own shingle immediately after graduating from law school and building my firm into a practice that serves clients throughout the state and beyond. I am also proud of the opportunity to serve as a public defender for Oxford Municipal Court to ensure that everyone, regardless of circumstance, has access to a fair defense.
How has Oxford influenced your journey, and how do you hope to give back?
Oxford has been a wonderful place to build my career and raise my family. Practicing law here has given me the chance to work alongside talented attorneys, serve diverse clients, and grow as both a professional and a person. I hope to give back by providing pro bono legal services to those in our community who need help but may not be able to afford it, and by mentoring young attorneys and law students who are just beginning their careers. This community has given me many opportunities and support, and my goal is to pass on the same guidance and encouragement to others.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Heidi, and our two sons. I am a family man first and foremost. I also love traveling, trying new restaurants, enjoying a good bourbon, and spending time outdoors hunting.
