Shelby and Antavious Herod

How did you two meet? We met at Lafayette High School in 2010. We were the best of friends at that point!

Tell us about the proposal: He proposed to me at El Agave. I was under the impression that we were bringing both sides of our families together for a “meet and greet.” They brought our daughter out in a shirt that said “Mommy, will you marry my DaDa?” It was so special!

Describe your wedding dress: I actually had my dress custom-made by an online company called Amanda Novias (super scary). The dress turned out so much better than I could have ever imagined! I talked to Ms. Amanda for months before making a decision. I ultimately went through her entire site and put two dresses together. She saw my vision and recreated it perfectly!

Favorite moment from your big day: Other than marrying the man of my dreams, I believe my favorite moment of the day was my mom reading a heart-felt letter that she wrote to me. It was so special because we have always been so close and she has always been by my side throughout every milestone.

Favorite wedding details: I absolutely loved everything about the wedding and how it turned out. As far as decorations, I think my favorite part was the arch, which was built by my husband and decorated by our decorator. Another favorite detail of mine was our dessert table. It was so beautiful and delicious! We also had canvases lined along the road leading up to the ceremony.
