Q&A with Shell Laser MedSpa
Dr. Dan Shell

Q: What skin care services would you recommend for brides who want to look their best on their wedding day?

Starting an effective medical grade skincare regimen several weeks before a bride’s big day is the first step in making sure she will look radiant on her big day. A professional facial like a HydraFacial is another way that a bride can make sure her skin stays in optimal condition.

Q: Is there an optimal time prior to the wedding for a facial, lip injections and other med spa services?

Shell Laser MedSpa offers recommends scheduling an appointment about six months before the wedding day to be sure we address any concerns or meet the expectations that the bride has to prepare for her big day. We offer complimentary skincare consultations at the bride’s convenience.

Depending on the services needed to achieve desired results, there could be a little bit of downtime. Some treatments such as microneedling, a laser treatment or an injection may require a few days or more of downtime before the optimal results are visible. Dr. Shell recommends Botox three weeks or so prior to the big event.

Q: What is the advantage of having MedSpa services in a practice owned by a plastic surgeon?

Dan H. Shell IV, M.D., FACS is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has been in practice for more than 15 years and has spent a considerable amount of time researching the safest and most effective treatments before offering them to his patients.

Critical evaluation of a product or treatment by an experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon is critical to ensuring a safe and desirable outcome. Dr. Shell only uses injectables such as Botox from companies like Allergan.

It is important to distinguish the difference between cost and value when choosing a service. Patients should be very skeptical when a procedure or treatment is offered at a low cost. It is important to ask questions such as is the product being used from a legitimate source? How much experience does the person administering the procedure have? What are the expected outcomes and if I have concerns, will someone be available to address them?

Q: Do you see whole bridal parties book sessions at the MedSpa so they look their best?

Our MedSpa services are customized for each individual patient. A bridal party may make appointments to come in on the same day, but the treatment may not necessarily be the same for each patient.

Each of our skincare regimens and treatments is based upon skin type and concerns of each client.

Q: For the mother of the bride, what kind of med spa services are most popular?

The mother of the bride most routinely chooses a HydraFacial, microneedling treatments such as SkinPen, or a resurfacing laser treatment to address fine lines and wrinkles.

Botox and fillers are very popular as well.
